Terms and Conditions of Use

By opting in to receive SMS messages from Tau Counseling Services of Maryland (“we,” “us,” “our”, “TCSM”), and our contracted therapists, you agree to these Terms and Conditions (Terms).

SMS Messaging Service

By providing my phone number, I consent to receive SMS text messages from Tau Counseling Services of Maryland and/or their contracted therapists  for appointment reminders, marketing messages, and general two-way communication about scheduling and billing questions. No clinical information will be shared via text or email. Message and Data Rates may apply.

Message Frequency

You will get more than one message from us unless you opt-out, and while messaging frequency varies, you will likely receive up to 4 messages per month. TCSM reserves the right to alter the frequency of messages at any time to increase or decrease the total number of messages. TCSM and carriers are not liable for delays or undelivered messages.

Message and data rates may apply based on your mobile carrier’s terms.

Privacy Policy

Cancellation/Opt-Out Instructions

You can opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message we send you. After you opt out of text messaging, you will receive one additional message confirming your request has been processed.

Liability

We are not responsible for any charges, errors, or delays in SMS delivery or undelivered messages caused by your carrier or third-party service providers.

Certain communications with our practice may involve the use of text messaging (SMS), which can be a convenient way to exchange information. However, by choosing to communicate with us via text message, you acknowledge and accept the following terms:

  • Risks of Text Messaging: Text messaging is not a secure form of communication and may not be fully compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). There is a risk that messages containing your personal health information (PHI) could be intercepted, misdirected, or accessed by unauthorized individuals. By initiating or consenting to text communication, you accept these risks. Our text messaging app is HIPAA compliant and password protected on our end. However, texts that are delivered to your phone are only as private as your phone is. Please be mindful of keeping your passwords secure. 
  • Permitted Use: Text messaging may be used for limited, non-urgent purposes such as appointment reminders, scheduling, or general inquiries. Do not use text messaging to share sensitive medical information, request medical advice, or discuss treatment plans.
  • Office Communication Rules: If you choose to send a text message to our office, please include your first name and last initial, and a brief description of your request. Our staff will respond during regular business hours. We reserve the right to discontinue text communication at any time and may request that you use a more secure method of communication.
  • Emergencies: Text messaging is not monitored 24/7 and should never be used in the event of a medical or mental health  emergency. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room immediately. You can also call 988 Mental Health Helpline 24/7 for urgent emotional support.

By using our services and communicating via text message, you agree to these terms and understand the limitations and risks involved.
